This is a piece I created while working at Lost Boys Interactive. It’s part of a larger concept my coworker, Nick Crane, and I were developing before the layoffs. While I wasn’t able to fully complete it, I decided to share it as is.
The concept centers on a poor girl living in New Mexico during the Dust Bowl era. She faces many challenges, including being possessed by demons, while living in a small, struggling town. Her design was an exercise in conveying complexity through simplicity, showcasing her as both insecure and strong, slowly realizing she might be the one in control.
This project also served as a workflow experiment. I explored a pipeline that began with Character Creator 4, moved through ZBrush and Substance Painter (cycling between these tools to refine the process), and incorporated Marvelous Designer. The goal was to test the workflow’s efficiency and effectiveness within a production environment.
